The motivation
Why I’m building this.
This brings together two parts of my life: ultrarunning and software development. I know how many decisions go into preparing for a long race. With EndurancePal, I want to make fueling plans easier to follow, bringing individual choices into one coherent plan.
The problem behind the idea
A race can last many hours, with aid stations, different course sections and decisions about which products you need where. A shopping list alone does not answer those questions. Change the plan, and quantities and shopping need to stay in step.
The implementation
How I’m approaching it.
I connect the race and its aid stations to an editable fueling plan. Saved plans retain the selected products and quantities. For shopping, the application translates required servings into available packs at Sporthunger. Your own foods remain visible, even when they cannot be ordered from the shop.
A serving is not a pack. Small distinctions like this determine whether a plan also works when it is time to shop.
An honest look at the progress
Built. And still building.
What works today
- Choose a race and plan fuel for individual course sections.
- Save plans to your account, reopen and edit them, or save a separate copy.
- Prepare a Sporthunger cart from the planned quantities of supported products.
What I’m working on next
- Packing lists for the start, drop bags and crew pickups are being tested locally.
- Flavours, pack sizes and their nutrition data are undergoing further review.
- The next steps should be judged by how useful they are in actual race preparation.
