NÖN: 24,000 metres of climbing and a new test of my limits
NÖN reports on my 10th place at the 2025 Tor des Géants: 335 km, 24,000 metres of climbing and the story behind the numbers.
NÖN covers the 2025 Tor des Géants
Niederösterreichische Nachrichten (NÖN) covered my run at the 2025 Tor des Géants, with a fitting headline about a new test of my limits in the Aosta Valley.
The facts
- Event: Tor des Géants, one of the world’s toughest ultras
- Course: 335 kilometres with 24,000 metres of elevation gain
- Time: 78 hours, 24 minutes and 51 seconds
- Result: 10th overall
An honest reflection
The NÖN report honestly captures what happened. I wanted a podium place and did not achieve it. Many small mistakes added up: insufficient logistics, fewer support points than my competitors and inadequate altitude acclimatisation.
That honesty makes the report authentic. It is not always about winning. Sometimes the most valuable lessons come when things fail to go to plan.
From second at PTL to tenth at TOR
NÖN also puts the result in the context of my career: ninth at the UTMB in 2018, second at the PTL in 2024 with running partner Tom Wagner. The Tor des Géants was my first major solo attempt at this distance, and an important experience for the future.
