European Trail Running Symposium Pitztal: Running at the limit

At the fifth European Trail Running Symposium in Pitztal, I discuss the balance between peak physical performance and psychological dependence, and the origins of #lifeworktrailbalance.

Speaking at the European Trail Running Symposium

At the fifth European Trail Running Symposium in Pitztal, I had the opportunity to speak about something close to my heart: Running at the limit, between peak physical performance and psychological dependence.

The honest story behind #lifeworktrailbalance

The idea of #lifeworktrailbalance sounds harmonious, but its origins were anything but. In the quick interview on the Pitztal Blog, I explain how I began as a work-obsessed IT entrepreneur, discovered running as a counterbalance, and then transferred the risk of addiction from work to running.

Three pillars, daily mindfulness

As the father of twins who were then one and a half years old, founder of Smarter Business Solutions GmbH and an ambitious trail runner, balancing everything was a daily challenge. In my talk, I shared practical ways to bring these three parts of life together without sacrificing any one of them.

The key insight is that daily mindfulness is needed to avoid slipping back into old patterns. Balance is a process you shape anew every day, rather than a state you achieve once.

Pitztal: a place to train and race

I had already trained in Pitztal twice with my BOA Running Team and raced the Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail once. Giving this talk there was no coincidence. It is a place that brings peak performance and reflection together perfectly.
